The wooden Thonet chair features a robust and stable structural design beneath the seat. Our factory utilises
a robust support frame and precision welding techniques to ensure even stress distribution throughout the chair,
thereby preventing deformation or loosening. The bottom joints are reinforced to withstand long-term,
high-frequency use. Whether moving, stacking, or sitting on the chair, it maintains excellent stability and support.
Our factory uses high-quality solid wood, such as beech or oak, to produce Sonnet chairs. These woods have
a hard, dense grain and maintains good toughness and strength during bending.After selection, our logs
are peeled, cut, and cut to size, and then processed in a high-temperature steam drying kiln to reduce the
moisture content of the wood to 8%–12% to prevent deformation, cracking, or mold growth later on.
Next, the dried wood is placed in a steam chamber for high-temperature softening, giving the wood fibres
sufficient plasticity. It is then placed in a special metal mold, where workers slowly bend it into the desired
shape (such as the curve of a backrest or the curvature of a chair leg).
After bending and shaping, workers will meticulously sand the surface of the wood to ensure smooth lines
and tight joints. Edges are rounded to enhance the feel and overall aesthetics. After sanding, sandblasting
or polishing can be performed in preparation for staining.
Our bentwood chair frames are coated with environmentally friendly water-based paint or wood wax oil to
showcase the natural wood grain texture and enhance moisture and scratch resistance. Thonet chairs are
available in a variety of colors, including white, brown, natural wood, and black, ensuring each product matches
different occasions and styles.
After the chair frame and rattan cushion are completed, our workers assemble the chair legs, backrest,
cross braces, and other components, reinforcing the connections with mortise and tenon joints or metal
parts. Each joint undergoes pressure tightening and testing to ensure the structure is stable and does not
wobble.
