Atari Basketball features fast, top-down, two-on-two action where players control a single athlete using a joystick and button to dribble, pass, steal, and shoot, emphasizing quick positioning and timing over complex rules; the ball automatically snaps to the nearest player, keeping the pace frantic as teams race up and down the court trying to outscore each other before the clock runs out, delivering simple but intensely competitive arcade fun.
